This week has been very busy and to top it all off the video card in my laptop “blew up” (excuse my technical jargon)
It feels my Dell XPS 1330 is an extension of me at times and was horrified at the prospect of getting by without it. Emailing from a Blackberry all week would send me crazy!
To my utter delight a service rep was at the office less than twenty four hours later. He replaced my entire motherboard and I’m very happy to report – all is well!
It’s not often you have such a happy and positive customer service / after sales experience.
When reflecting on my experience the words of a marketing lecturer I had at University came to mind. “The only form of sustainable competitive advantage in business is offering outstanding customer service” – Funny enough this is one of the only things I remember from my studies!
Jokes aside, the more I think about it the more it rings true. Competitors can imitate your product and match your price. The best way to stand out and maintain a strong competitive advantage is to offer excellent service. Both before and after sale!
